Safe step‑by‑step for natural stone (travertine, flagstone) and sealed surfaces

1) Test in an inconspicuous area. 2) Start with absorbent + dish soap scrub using soft nylon brush and plenty of water. 3) If not removed, switch to a mild poultice (kaolin or paper pulp + non‑acidic liquid—use water or a stone‑safe degreaser like a commercial stone oil remover with d‑limonene only if the product is labeled stone‑safe). 4) Apply poultice (10–12 mm thick), cover with plastic, allow to draw oil for 8–24 hours, then remove, rinse and neutralize. 5) Avoid acids (vinegar, lemon) and harsh alkaline caustics on calcareous stone (travertine, limestone, marble) — they can etch. 6) For solvent use (mineral spirits or citrus solvents), use minimal quantity, excellent ventilation, gloves and respirator and test — solvents can affect sealers and finishes.
